The Breakdown:
This project transforms the arrival experience at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia with a new entrance and expanded parking facilities that enhance visitor safety, accessibility, and the overall guest experience. The project increases parking capacity by 72%, adding 140 standard parking spaces, five ADA-accessible spaces, a dedicated bus drop-off area, and new pedestrian connections to the Garden’s natural trail system.
The improvements include a thoughtfully designed parking lot featuring asphalt drive lanes with crushed stone parking pads that promote stormwater infiltration and support long-term sustainability. Additional enhancements include new site lighting, emergency call stations, security cameras, and upgraded landscaping that reflects the character and beauty of the Garden.
A relocated and widened entrance along South Milledge Avenue provides improved visibility, safer vehicle turning movements, dedicated right- and left-turn lanes, and a landscaped median with signature Garden signage. These enhancements create a welcoming gateway while improving traffic flow for visitors, buses, and service vehicles alike.
